NEWS CONFERENCES ON SUMMIT ISSUES
The Organization of American States (OAS) will
host news conferences Thursday on two key issues: the plan of action
being developed for the upcoming Summit of the Americas, and the
reports that will be presented at the Summit evaluating each nation’s
progress against drugs.
The Personal Representative of the Prime Minister
of Canada for the Summit and the National Coordinators for the
Summit of Chile and the United States – will talk about this week’s
meeting of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) and the
issues that will take center stage at the Third Summit of the
Americas, which will be held in Quebec City, Canada, from April 20
to 22.
The second news conference, which will
immediately follow, will focus on the Multilateral Evaluation
Mechanism (MEM), which was developed to measure progress against
drugs in each country of the Americas and in the region as a whole.
The national reports on the 34 OAS member countries will be made
available to the media.
